Little mare has got a hot pastern and is limping. Not badly but she is lame in walk. Have cold hosed (mostly the clear the inches of mud and find the heat) and no broken skin etc. I have a feeling shes pulled/twisted it either chasing the boys about or one of them has stood up to her and knocked it. Shes on 'stable' rest which is a stable sized patch of dry grass since I have no stable and have given her no bute. Vets coming to do her jabs next week so not going to call them out before then but anything else I can do?

Continue cold hosing, twice a day for 20 minutes. Ring the vets for advice if you are worried. Do you mean you have given her No-Bute (bute substitute) or you have not given her any bute? If the latter she may benefit from some pain relief. Good luck x
