Heat in the pasterns and red soles

Ive noticed my donkey has some heat in his pastern for a few days, then yesterday it disappeared and came in the opposite leg. On his front feet he has red soles and no frogs. They have only been like this since the farrier came to him. What could it be?

The redness is possibly bruising of some sort. Is he on any stoney ground at all??

He is stabled in winter, with turnout in the school. I used a new farrier and although he seemed to do a good job at the time, I wonder if it might have been a mistake he made?

Sounds a bit like the farrier has trimmed his feet a wee bit short
