Heather Moffett FlexEE Saddles - reviews/ anyone selling

No, I'm a fitter in the purest sense so I only do onsite flocking etc and only work for one company. I have seen them in the flesh in the past, no idea which "generation" of Flexee as they have changed, but definitely not great quality, and definitely don't fit everything, watch for them staying properly back behind the shoulder AND being in balance, even if they don't slip sideways. I have ridden, many years ago, in an SBS which was made by Nurseys who are local to me, and I think the quality was good, not sure about relative value. Not seen a Vogue.

OP, I have always said that the horse is the best judge of the fit of a saddle. But I would want to put your saddle a bit further back, tbh. Obviously I don't know how long you had been sitting on the saddle, so I could have got the wrong impression but the photo looks as if his head has come up and his ears gone back as you mounted and settled into position.

Good luck with the saddle, just a point of caution, it is not safe to be on the lunge mounted with the line behind the ears. A cavesson is needed.

I agree, he doesn't look happy and, to my mind, you look perched on the saddle.

Saddle was to far forward but it is a good fit, he doesn’t look overly impressed in that pic I agree but there was things going on behind.
Seemed quiet hard to ride in today I must say! Need to learn to trot with my legs all over again, I seemed to need to stand up and sit down which felt awful, felt like a total beginner again. Or maybe it’s just highlighting my floors! Will try again tomorrow see if I can adjust. He seemed happy enough in it , I just need to find my way with it. It stayed very stable and didn’t slip which is a good start :) Hopefully we get on with it , if not it will be on eBay soon enough lol

Good stuff, I believe that these saddles have stirrup bars placed further back than a lot of saddles. You probably need some time to adjust. It might be worth reading Heathers book, I don’t follow it religiously but it does have good tips and you can pick out what works for you x

Next time you get on try putting your legs over the saddle flaps and gently wriggling yourself forwards then allow the legs to drop from the hip.... quickly puts you in the ideal ear/hip/heel line and tells you how tight your hip flexors are! What you will tend to do is shove yourself to the back of the saddle in an effort to get your leg in front of you, which is how most saddles put you and muscle memory is a sod, which is why trot feels odd :) HTHs

Really making myself vulnerable but here goes....
Firstly I’m very much a novice but I have the sweetest horse who is looking after me and teaching me soooo much, I try to do my very best by him always he is my world!

Soooo the saddle situation, I had another go on the treeless this morning and i started to find some Balance but it’s clear to see I’m struggling with my posting ( I think the saddle will not hide me sneakily using my feet to rise and until I stop I’m not going to enjoy this saddle nor is my horse) so any tips for that would be very welcome! Also my horse needs a LOT of leg, so i look like i'm pestering but he needs so much support for balance and im getting to grips with it slowly. i presume once i stop using my feet it will become so much easier to use my lower leg correctly?

I have two videos first one is my old saddle during a lesson on Sunday, it goes sideways and my horse is never overly pleased when I tack him up( he seems happier with the new one going on) this clip was about 25 mins into a lesson and I was really starting to make progress and could feel him being a bit more supple and trying to work with me. He was almost at the end of his lesson so my legs are nagging to keep him going as i left my whip but usually i dont pester to this extent.

This clip was the new saddle this morning ( this was about 4 mins in to being on his back) he always looks a bit off at the start of a ride until we find some rythm, so not really in our swing but was more for me to try and get a feel of the saddle. I know he doesn’t look overly happy but he is moving forwards nicely and his legs seem free ish if that make sense. The poor guy just had to deal with me bumbling around on top trying to find my balance. Are there any signs anyone can spot that really show discomfort? ( the horse not me lol I am very much in pain feel like I’m being split in half using new muscles trying to open my legs. I know his head is up but it takes a long time to get him to relax so he does this at the start with the old saddle too. I wasn’t overly trying to get him going from behind as I just feel so uncomfortable.

Happy to hear any advice to help, I know I need to bend those bloody elbows, think I need bent metal rods on my arms at the mo as they just keep going strait. i know this is all so basic but i love hearing advise and getting new ideas to try. I plan on riding in the new saddle during my next lesson but am wanting to feel more balanced so i dont waist the lesson bumbling around.

Would your lower leg feel more secure with the stirrups a hole shorter? worth a try anyway. I am in no way an expert ut the two things I picked up on were you moving your hands a lot as you rise and as you say your leg moving, give him a flick with the whip if he doesnt go when you first ask him rather than keep nagging and try squeezing rather than kicking

Try not being so upright with your upper body in the rising trot. Incline your upper body slightly forward and don't think about rising too hard or pushing yourself too high out of the saddle... just allow the bounce of the horse to push your bum up and forward in a small arc so your hips end up under your shoulders at the top of the rise. Thinking about dropping your weight down the outside of your leg into your little toe may help stabilise your lower leg. Think about your elbows being heavy and sinking into your sides and your hands being light to get that elbow bend... once you have the balance of the rise it'll be easier to think about your hands and elbows.

I think the Flexee may be a little high at the back, the balance can only be adjusted afaik with shims, might be worth checking back with the fitter if this is possible, I think it is pitching you onto your fork which will make the "thigh split" of set back bars feel even worse.
