My saddle which is an Ideal has become uncomfortable, it seems to be tipping me forward and tilting up at the back when in trot. I had it adjusted by a saddler 10 months ago because the flocking had become uneven. I am now considering getting another saddle and was wondering about a second hand Heather Moffett saddle, as my ned is rather flat backed and these saddles mould themselves to the horses back. Does anyone have one ? What are the pros and cons? I would only be using it for hacking/pleasure rides etc.

I have 2 and I love em :D

Use on my friesian who is like a barrel and my qhx who has more with and is narrower. Very very comfy

Only cons Ive found are if you leave it in your car in winter it takes a while to warm up because of the memory foam. The stirrup position takes some getting used to, some immediately say oh i dont like it, as theyre trying to ride in it like a normal saddle, legs forward pushing bum to back of saddle when it doesnt work like that!

As someone here said " they are a bit like marmite" I love mine but only do a bit of happy hacking, suits me as I have arthritic knees and I can ride longer than normal, but the best of all is after years of having 3 saddles made to measure and still having to jump on the left stirrup to level the saddle up, I no longer have to do this :-) the little mare has a big shoulder and can now move it! I have the Phoenix and came with no knee blocks! which to say the least was a bit hairy on a pleasure ride, was a bit yee-harr! but have now found some nice big blocks and it is more secure..if your local to Devon your welcome to try mine :-)

Thanks Quickfire,

I have pm'd you.

One thing I will say - check whether it's your saddle or your horse's conformation that is tipping you forward. There is nothing worse than a Fhoenix saddle on a downhill horse - with the set back stirrups they become really quite insecure.
