I'm currently looking at changing my saddle but we are short of saddlers up where I live in South Cumbria. I have had a look at the website of Heather Roberts which is The Saddle Consultant and just wondered if anyone has used her or has any comments good or bad. It says that she travels to Cumbria, so I'm thinking of asking her whether she will come up. Thanks

If I were Heather Roberts, and realised you had posted this on here, I would not deal with you - you cannot ask this sort of thing on a public forum - bad comments can be taken as defamatory, and it just ain't cricket. Sorry.

Why in earth can't the OP post asking for people's experiences? People do this all the time from feed, to vets, to instructors. Just recently there was a thread about Martin Collins Clopf & some people were less than complementary about the customer service they had received. I posted about jumping instructors & got all sorts of responses.
A good company or individual has nothing to fear from being discussed on a public forum ;)

Well Shysmum, sorry to disappoint you, but I am now going to put a thread on asking about Bates saddles.......is that cricket or are you going to criticise that as well?

I think you can ask whatever you like on the forum - people do it all the time about every product - and people give good and bad answers - if I thought that Heather Roberts was bad I wouldn't be asking her to come up, would I? All I can find are good reviews, but obviously want to know if anyone has had a bad experience and if so, why?

She's nice. I'm always p!ssing her about, getting her to fit me in when she's at the yard for someone else without ever making proper appointments, asking her questions then buying saddles from everywhere else, lol. She takes it, stays nice and remains helpful so I like her. :D

Now that's the sort of reply I was looking for! I'll get in contact with her. Thanks

@ShysMum - are you an official forum moderator or just the forum's current busy body. So many of your posts of late fit well into my 'intolerances' category. What is the problem here?

Hi,

From my experience Heather Roberts is a really good saddle fitter, she is upfront and honest, has a good range of stock in both second hand and new saddles and is competively priced.

I have personally had sadle fitters come to me before and check my saddles over and then tell me "they need to be sent to the factory to be re-flocked" ........this however is a load of tosh!! To flock a saddle the saddler needs to be able to see how the additional flock makes the saddle sit on a horses back (hopefully better :-?) right there and then in the flesh not from miles away in a factory having never seen the saddle on the horses back.....I would like a crystal ball like they must have if they can re-flock as saddle and adjust to the correct fit!? :-)) The horse world never ceases to amaze me!!!

Anyway....Heather is well worth a visit, trustworthy in my opinion and experience. ;-)
