heating feeds?

anyone who has used/using allen & page calm and condition, and alfa A oil...

would you describe these feeds as being 'heating' to horses? (if this makes sense)

I use Alfa a oil in the winter for my hunting cob and it certainly helps maintain his condition and gives him more energy - maybe for a horse in less intensive work it would be heating?
A mare on our yard was recently put on 'calm and condition' and it sent her loopy - but she is only in light work, so again it could be to do with not being excercised enough in relation to her feed intake...
