I want to try and get a heater for the living area in my horse box, it gets really cold in there and my poor child had to sit with a sleeping bag around him to keep him warm. My lorry is not a fancy one with heaters built in.

Is there one I can just plug into my cigarette lighter or any good ideas on what i could do

Maybe get a diesal heater fitted? - We went for one in our new wagon so we can keep the back warm when travelling, it really works! I think this is the only heater you can have on in the back safely when travelling?

You can get little ceramic heaters that plug into the cigarette lighter, but at 150W they are better at clearing windscreens than keeping children warm. Why not pop into a motorhome/caravan supplier and see what they suggest?

I bought a camping heater from Argos. Think it was about £30. You can buy the canisters from Argos as well.

Ive not used them when travelling but they work very well when parked up.

12v heaters are rubbish, I have a 12v hair-drier and its a chocolate teapot!!

Suggest either the portable gas cannister heaters or lookout for an eberspacher or similar diesel heater on eBay

You really need to be careful.
Any fuel heater produces gases [carbon monoxide is a silent killer], and water vapour, and need to be in a well ventilated area. Naked flames are a no no in a lorry or near children.
Yes very good point I would go for a eberspacher heater as they are fitted with an exhaust that goes outside and they blow hot air no visable flame, mine is fantastic feels toasty warm even after geting out of the shower :D
