mare has started heating up as we've got into winter.... being quite naughty actually.... the things that have changed....do you think its any one specifically or just a culmination of all?

started feeding:
supershine plus by baileys
cider vinegar
naf oestress

she is now clipped as winter (wasnt clipped last year with her old owner, dont know about before that)

is now fit (mock hunted twice in last 2 months)

do you think its just cos shes fit? shes being a bit of a madam under saddle x

I'd think it would be the extra fitness, I don't have any experience on what you are feeding... except the oestress, as it's winter you shouldn't have to feed it, would save a bit of money. I used to feed it to my mare, don't anymore as I think it stopped working for her, worked at the beggining though.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

By Supershine - do you mean Outshine? (havent heard of supershine), if so I know some peoples horses who get hot on it.

Otherwise maybe its just the colder weather. My TBx is always more alive in winter (being clipped as well makes him more flighty!). A cold wind up their bum can make them rather excited!

Definitely WOULD'NT take her off the oestress - I took my Madam off the hormonal mare last month to save some pennies for winter - big mistake, she came into season a few days later and was a complete witch, argumentative, under saddle and on the ground - back on it, and lovely again!

Her behaviour will have changed if she is fitter and clipped. I try and give mine lots of variety and take her for a good blast as often as I can!

TBH i dont think the oestress is doing that much, although does seem to have mellowed her a little, once ive finished this tub i will be off it. think i just have to accept she is a typical chesnut mare and a huge chip on her shoulder!!

William is like this at this time of year, I put it down to the fact that I ride him a bit less cause of it being Winter but he still has quite a lot of feed as he's a poor do-er. Are you riding a bit less or for less time?

yep riding less but feed remaining the same usually does it, there's your answer I expect! I have to put up with more silliness than usual during winter ...
