Heave lines

Has anyone got a photo of a horse with heave lines? Or a description of where the lines are normally seen?
Any ideas as to how long they normally take to develop and be visible would be useful too...

a heave line is a thickened muscle along the abdomen, The horse will look tucked up

See the bay horse in your siggy, heave line would run about half way between botton of tummy and clip line (if that make sense).

Hmm... so a line running alongside (or slightly higher) than the clip line in my sig is unlikely to be caused by heaves... bang goes that theory!

Not yet, yesterday was the first time the lines were noticeable, but I wasn't sure if it was breathing, bloating or something else. They were more noticeable on her left side than her right, so I guess heave lines would be more even as well.

I'll take my camera up tonight in case there's no improvement in her behaviour and appearance as it's a mystery to me.
