I have a BFG - he's a 5 year old shire gelding called Barney Bear
He eats 4 giant haylage nets per night and drinks 2 giant tub-trugs full of water and, he poo's for wales
I am fortunate that my farrier only charges me exactly the same price for his purpose made shoes which has just gone up to £57. Its not easy to get off the shelf rugs which will fit him snuggly and I had to buy him a new fitted saddle as he still has about 3 years of developing to do.
The press are coming to see me tomorrow regarding OE and I am hoping to get Barney Bear (18.2hh) and Bonnie (12hh) together for the pic. They are both rescues and I think it would make quite an effective picture.
I have a clydesdale x to keep he is roughly £30-£40 extra compared to my sisters 15.1hh TB x. He eats more hard feed and more haylage. Fortunetly shoeing costs are not more but he is only one siz off £90 shoes which a shire at my yard takes!
I have a Shire X. he lives out 24/7/365 and we have enough grazing to never need to feed hay. he gets feed during winter as he is elderly, but he gets supabeet and hifi, so doesn't cost a fortune. His feet are big but not massive so his shoing is regular costs. Worming is a pain as he always needs 1 and a bit tubes.
