Hi
I have a 15.2hh full TB who is 27 years old, he lives out most of the time and only comes in when it is really bad (hates being in even with company!). Currently he is wearing a heavy weight rambo, medium amigo insulator and a fleece (when it gets really cold).

I would like to buy him a new heavyweight rug with at least 370 fill. I have been looking at fal pro, rambo and bucas but not really sure what to buy. Can anyone reccomend a good rug no more then about £180-£200.

looking for a 6'3''. Any links or advice would be great.
Thanks.

My TB is out 24/7 with a Mark Todd combo on and it has been brilliant.
He has been toasty all winter and i haven't had to put an extra rug on.
Only downside is that it is a bit heavy but not too bad.

This winter I have bought the rhino plus new style that takes the duo liner for my 23yr old - cost about £130 and is a 370 fill. I also have the 100g liner in it now horse is clipped and have taken the neck off to save the mane - horse has never been cold and its also quite light.

I also have a 21yr old TB who I will get this rug for next year but probably a heavier weight liner - think you can get from 100g to 400g - liners are about £30

My old mare had a Fal heavyweight rug, they are expensive but I think they are worth it, I owned her for 9 years before she was pts aged nearly 24, she wore her Fal rug every winter and it was still in good condition. I have another old mare now, aged 26, she has a Rhino heavyweight with a neck cover, I'm not sure how much it was as it was a present from my friends but I think they are a fair bit cheaper than Fal. It's only her first winter with it so far but it keeps her really warm, fits well and doesn't rub or anything.

Another vote for the Rhino plus new style - I found the MT too heavy (rather than too hot) and it tended to rub my mare a bit, which could be prob for an oldie.
My fine skinned tho unclipped QH mare is out in it today, playing in the snow, and has been toasty warm all this week, even on Monm which reached a high of -4 here in rural Warks!
