Heavy weight's

That is exactly what Stinky did. He kept sniffing and then started to nudge at my boob. Even when I really told him off (he is normally well mannered) he was straight back and then gave it a really hard shove. Next morning in the shower I found a 1" lump which was not there the day before.

I know dogs are trained but maybe we should offer our horses as well as cancer detectors?

I hope you are well - 2 years on I am still free of cancer and just had my reconstruction - unfortunately I had complications and it is taking a long time to heal but I can't wait to get back onboard my hairy beasties again.

Are'nt horses fantastic. My mare is absolutely fascinated by my big fat pregnant belly, I don't know if she understands whats in there or if she thinks I might have a secret stash of carrots up my jumper.

I am loving stinky

I do believe they know when you are not right. When riding whilst having chemo, Stinky went along with the handbrake on - I knew I was recovered when he gave me a buck and went along like a steam train in the ring.

Both of them are very careful with me at the moment as they seem to know that I can't use my arms properly. They are also very careful when tiny kids are round them.

Some horses are very sensitive with people and it sounds like you too have one.

WOW What a special boy :)
A keeper for sure. Well done stinks!!(funny thats what i call h too:D)

Wishing you all the best and hope your back competing (with pics!!) soon xx

I hope to start in June. Stinky is no angel - he can be a true cheeky git of a cob at times, but he has a heart of gold and no malice in him.

I plan to be at Equifest with both of them and also at TOYS in September with Stinky and 100s of other gypsy cobs. This year I am not doing too much showing but it will be nice to have a quiet year and I can then crack on in 2013.

Great post, I love the heavies, gorgeous bunch of horses.
My new girl is pretty heavy, she is more on the medium side of hw though I think, as was my late mare, medium heavies as opposed to true heavies

Don't have one, unless you call a shetland a heavy weight :p but this is what I think a heavy weight is (image courtesy of google) :D

That is one of Fany's relatives.
Fany is a true heavy weight in my opinion, more so than the Clydesdales or Shires she represents a true draft horse. She is short coupled and has around 14-16 inch of bone. She is more than capable of carrying 14 stone and stands at 14-2hh. She is a representation of what the continental CB are like, bone, short coupled and generally smaller than our CBs.

Thank you - Stinky is my pride and joy who I owe my life to - he found cancer and pushed the lump to the surface, had he not, I may not be typing this. They say dogs and cats can detect cancer and they need to add horses.

Farra is my husband's horse. Bought after we lost our most loved old Cairo Clydesdale. Very different in some ways and in others she could be his clone.

I am grounded at the moment recovering from reconstruction surgery and can't wait for the next 4 - 6 weeks to go so I can start riding, mucking out and being with them other than just giving them a pat which is all I can do at the moment.

Theresa F, I've sent you a private message, I hope....!!!
