As title really, need to be 350gm fill minimum and a proper full neck- some seem to be so short when they put their heads down and horse will be fully clipped.

Any thoughts on Premier Equine / Horseware? They look good.?

He had a mark todd one but 3 years in its leaking now despite being re proofed and is looking worn.

Any suggestions welcome

Amigo's come up short. The longest neck i've ever found were JHL rugs, unfortunately they are often cotton lined and this rubs my mares shoulders. She currently has all Derby House rugs which I have to say are exceptionally good quality, they are fairly average in the neck and she is fully clipped and done fine in them all winter.

That is unusual for a m todd rug, I would question what is was washed in, and at what temperature.

Prem equine come up well and are reasnably priced, have a look at weatherbeeta as well as they really have a good life, and seem a good fit:).

Hate PE, buckles always break and just end up heavy and soaked , shires storm Cheeta is a fab rug, warmest and best I've ever invested in

I looked at the title of this thread and instantly thought Mark Todd. I go as far to buy them second hand off Ebay i think they are so good.

I have a Premier Equine and thought it was amazing til it was put through my own washing machine and leaked like mad since, Just a thought maybe your MT was wrongly washed as suggested above?

Weatherbeeta i also rate but only for a certain shape horse! They fit my ID x and daughters Connie X perfectly but rub my TB madly!

I'm a big fan of both the Rambo Duo and the PE Trio as you can change the liners depending on the weather and the outers then go in my yard washing machine.

I have 5 horses in these rugs in the winter (I don't use stable rugs on them) and they all survived the winter very well. PE does a 200g neck cover as well as the 100g (Rambo is 100g) but as they fit on each other (eg. PE cover fits Rambo rug and Rambo neck cover fits PE rug) I would go for whichever rug best fits your horse.

I favour the PE neck cover as it does seem longer and with the elastic fit round the top it does not seem to ride back down the neck as much. I do find with PE rugs though that I have to go up a size to usual (mind you I find the same with the Rambo Duo to). The PE rug is also cut much deeper than most.

I have a couple of PE winter busters (350g and 450g) and a 40g turnout, think they are fab, have worn well and never leak. They necks are plenty long enough and have the elastic at the top to keep them in place.

Thanks everyone, really helpful.

in regard to my Maark Todd I have only had it proffesionally cleaned once and re proofed and was fine after that and then have just washed it by hand (only with water and a brush) since then. It then started to leak (although must admit only in places) and re-proofed it myself. I think it only leaks really where there are seams or where some of the fabric has started to wear :( I do like the style of it though so maybe should just get another.

I do like the look of the necks on the premier equines but seems some people have had problems with them leaking so may be a bit hit and miss!?

I must own well over 20 - 30 PE rugs (yes, lots of horses/ponies) and never had a problem with one of them. When I have had a problem (with the size I've bought, etc) the customer service has been fab and they've even sent me 2 neck covers free of charge :)

I really rate my Shires full neck Stormcheeta 400grms, lovely warm rug that stays put and fits well.

Hate PE, buckles always break and just end up heavy and soaked , shires storm Cheeta is a fab rug, warmest and best I've ever invested in

Echo these, I always had either rambo or PE PE get way too heavy and take too long to dry. The last Rambo I had leaked, sent it back, replacement leaked

I never rated Shires rugs until the last 18 months but they are fab. just wished they did a 40g

I love fal rugs but the necks are short. Premier equine with the fixed neck is the way to go. I find the velcro on the detatchable necks is not good enough to hold the neck on after 2 winters.

Anyone else for prem equine? I am deciding between that and another mark todd

I have a PE Trio and absolutley love this rug, have used every variation thourghout the year and although a lot of money to shell out in a oner the versatility you get from the one rug is just amazing! I own this rug and one no fill rain sheet and thats it. And that has seen me through a wet Scottish winter and even wetter Scottish summer! Had no problems with this rug at all and love it. :) If you dont need all those options due to other rugs you already own then the winter busters etc are just the same as the trio with the thickest lining.

Premier Equine every time. I have the Buster trio and the 70x (which you can also use with the liners) and they are the best rugs I've every had. The necks are great, long and have the elasticated end so they keep neddie covered even when grazing. They have never leaked, rubbed or ripped (unlike numerous other rugs my boy has had - Derby House(lasted 2 weeks), Masta, Axiom).

Only had good experiences with PE and fits perfect. Neck cover shape suits my horse and this is the only rug style I have found so far that does not leave him with gapping mane holes. They are generously cut and would recommend a size smaller.*

Thanks everyone, after googling and searching on here seems a lot of of good reviews but also some reviews of premier equine leaking which makes me a bit anxious although I would really like to try them as they are a nice warm snug fit.

decisions decisions!

PE. Never had a prob. 3 people on yard have a winter buster -all v happy with them. Neck design brill-it's the only one that doesn't slip down and throttle horse or allow rain in neck. (Surprised at reports of buckle breaking-their hardware is extremely chunky & tough compared to other makes.) All 3 on yard went down a size for theirs-they are generously cut.
