OMG soooo cute! :D

But now I am disgusted by my OH... I just showed him and he said they look like a more prickly version or something found in his boxers.. Boys are so immature!

Can I ask a silly question? How prickly are they?

Depend if they have their quills up!

If they do, it usually means they're scared and they're very prickly and you can have an allergic reaction to the quills which makes some people REALLY itchy and sore lol. If they have the quills down they aren't prickly at all, its like stroking rough broom bristles :) If they are tame and friendly they wont often put the quills up.

They're very cute, they look sort of 'pricklier' than they did in the previous photos, do their quills get pricklier as they grow?

(That's probably a really stupid question lol)

pmsl to be fair i also thought this when i saw the 1st piccy.. mummy is very cute though

Awwwwwww they are delightful.

Sorry to ask another silly question, is mummy hedgehog one that you are caring for (as in injured from the wild) do you run a hedgehog sactuary kinda thing or are they those mini hedgehog that people have for pets?

Very cute! We seem to be over-run with hedgehogs here at the moment - hadn't seen one for ages, then in the last month found one on the lawn and two in the hay barn!

These are african pygmy hedgehogs. They're domesticated ones, they make fab pets.

One is pink because it will be albino like dad, the other will be the same colour as mum :D

TGM - These wouldnt survive too long in the hay barn! lol!

Arrr right I see.

I've just been looking up Afican pygmy hedgehogs just now, but I googled mini hedgehogs :D and just seen some on freeads for sale, they are lovely.

Can you tell us more about them then, do people keep them in large indoor guinea pig cages then, do they need a certain temperature and what do they eat? are they better kept in pairs?

I'm just interested :)

Some of the freeads ones are to be avoided...!! People are cashing in now and breeding them closely related and not raising the babies properly. Its a real issue at the moment. This is my first litter so im just trying to do everything right so fingers crossed! lol

I keep mine in a large indoor rabbit cage. Some people use custom made vivariums but they're expensive. I dont have a specific heater for mine, i just have the cages near a radiator and keep the house warm through the winter. If you dont have central heating then you'd have to invest in a ceramic heat emitter to make sure they stay warm enough so they dont hibernate (it can be fatal!). They eat chicken flavoured cat food (mostly dry with wet as a treat), fruit and veg, cooked ham and chicken and insects :D They have to be kept alone :)

I wont be registering them til they're a few weeks older and im pretty sure they will both survive :) Mum and dad are both registered though so will definately reg the babies :D

Omw they are lovely! I really want one :o

Think I'll have to wait until I have my own place though, parents have banned me from more animals! They're like a grown up version of a hamster...much more socially acceptable. :D

Oh adorable! I keep thinking that Id love to get one, but to be honest most years I have one or 2 as a rescue any way! lol! I had a lovely young immature male that we think had been caught up in that netting they use for keeping herons out of ponds...he was with us about 3 months but then one of his wounds went septic and he passed away :(
He had a huge neck wound, and although we kept it really clean and he had antibiotics etc I think it healed externally too quickly and trapped infection inside.
He was amazing tho, for a wild hog he responded really well to being handled, and was a lovely lad to be around! Ill see if I can find a piccy!
We called him Hedgipig, he was great!
