I'm writing a CV/ Application form as my current one needed a huuge revamp.

I'm wanting to open it with a "witty/ funny," line to try to make it a bit more impressive than your average "ever since i was little.." lines.

So, I was thinking "I've been told to be involved with horses you need ..."

Inspiration came from one for a vet which was "long , skinny arms." haha

Lol!!
'I've been told to be involved with horses you need to... be slightly crazy, not like having any money, new clothes or hair / make-up / nails, hate lying in, enjoy shovelling poop in sub-zero temperatures, enjoy pain (lots of pain), and have the ability to squint up at a leaden sky with the rain hammering down and say 'yes, but it's not COLD is it'...

Damn, I had a feeling people would say this! I like to shy away from being "Professional," but hey-ho. I'm just at a block atm ..I never know where to start so I start venturing - never good!

I do also agree with MayFlower, but then again it depends where you are handing it in?

Is it for a saturday job down at your yard where you know the employers and know that is what they're looking for? Someone who isn't the average as you say "Ever since I was little..."
Or is it a more serious job?

I think it depends on where you are looking to work

As someone who used to work in this area of training, prospective employers are rarely looking for sense of humour to come across in a CV. They are looking for a professional resume of your experience and qualifications.
Save your wit for the interview.
As others have said tho this depends on what u are applying for, and if its just a yard job where u need a sense of humour maybe an opening line like that would be appropriate

I would make it funny, but serious, if you know what I mean!!

as in " I have been told that to work with horses......you need to be strong in the face of adversity, and determined to see everything through to the end"

Just a different slant on it...Good luck

I assume this is in the 'Additional Information' part of the CV? I tend to agree with Mayflower and the rest that you need to keep your CV professional - especially if you don't want to have to totally revamp it for every job you apply for.

As someone who has had to wade through piles of CV's I can say from personal experience that I like people to keep it short and to the point and (sorry f_s_ ) stay away from cliches!

D_L you can send me ur CV to look at if u like - let me know what positions you are applying for. (Recruitment was part of my previous life). I'll PM u my email address xx

Agree with everyone else, employers are not looking for'jokers' when applying for a job looking after their beloved horses, you can show your nice sense of humour at the interview or after you've got the job.
