Sorry if this is a bit dim but should the heel still land first going up hill?
I've noticed my boy who is new to barefoot is landing heel first on the flat & down hill but looks to be toe first going up even a relatively shallow slope. Is this normal or will this become heel first too as we continue our transition.
Thanks

No usually toe first uphill. This is why the test is done on flat level ground. Horses do need to land toe first at times.
Not a dim question at all. I think its hard for a horse to land flat uphill and virtually impossible heel first.

Further to amandap - the surface needs to be firm as well as level (concrete or tarmac) and the horse needs to be walking on. Slouchers will often toe first otherwise.
