Afternoon everyone
Tartine is back in full work after the osteopath visit on the 18th July. She is 100% sound, even on our exceptionally rocky tracks (lots of our forest and farm tracks were pretty much destroyed earlier this year after floods/heavy rain washed away the surface).
The frogs are almost on the ground now, and I would say are load bearing when the hoof is flexed (rather than when just standing passive).
Over the past couple of weeks a couple of issue have come up. You can almost see her heels decontracting, and as a result of the very dry weather we've had (until today lol!), the central sulcus has split in all 4 feet. Currently thrush free and doesn't appear to be ouchy, but giving a judicious spray of sole cleanse a couple of times a week just to be on the safe side.
Next is that Tartine is obviously wearing her heels faster than she is wearing her toes. She is already very long in the toe (though the new growth is showing a much tighter connection/steeper growth in the fronts, but not so much in the hinds) and she is having to work really hard to pick her feet up as the breakover is so far forward at the moment.
My trimmer isn't due to come out until 20 Aug (which is 7 weeks after the first trim)
At the moment I'm bevelling the toes as much as I dare, but there is about 1/2in wall proud of the sole at the moment, and my rasp (nor my wrist) can't cope with too much Mérens horn!
Can post recent (taken 2 days ago) photos later if needed
