my mum is looking for a confidence giving pony she has her head set on a chunky 13.2 older plod she has rode my 14.2 and i think she looks fine its a confidence thing i think with the 13.2 what do you think would one carry her ok prob maximum half hour walking a week

Id say 14hh-15hh would be a better combo. Just a nice little cob would do the job just fine and dandy me thinks!
If she wanted a finer tb-ish horse I think a slightly bigger horse would be better. So if height is an issue Id go for a stronger built horse!

Im 13st and 5ft 10 so have to go for chunky huge monsters!

i am 5'7 and weigh 12st and have a cob x tb,shes 15.1hh and a really good size for me,it depends on how chunky you want the pony i knew a irish cob x welsh sec c standing 13.3hh,i have never seen something so stocky plus it was like a barrel!lol.and a 16 year old 5'6 10st used to ride him he had no probs with this weight and her height was no issue either.lol.

I would think anything ranging from 13.2 through to 15h will be fine.If your mum is worried about being overhorsed then a smaller 13.2 well built chunky monkey should be fine. However again it depends on how your mum is built as if she has a long body she may feel too tall once on board.I would think between 14 and 14.2 would be ideal. So long as you go for a middle to heavy weight build then 12 stone will be easily carried.

yes shes wanting a oversized thelwell as she puts it she only has short legs and wants something very wide like a sofa that had one speed walk how luck we will be in finding something like this is another story

the 13.1 is lovely not sure if it would carry her tho im going to try and persuade her to phone the black dales hope shes feeling brave tomorrow thank you

Anything cobby or native from 13hh upwards would carry her easily. Even a large exmoor would manage it happily. If she want's something a bit finer she'd prob need something nearer 14.2

Have a look for dales, fells and cobs. They have the temperament she's looking for too. I ride a friends 13.2 dales pony and he carries me just fine. I'm a little lighter but significntly taller!

A H/W 14hh, M/W 14.2hh to 15hh, L/W 15hh to 15.2hh.
A 13.2hh native with a good amount of bone could easily carry her.
Being a similar height I feel too tall on anything smaller than 14hh and too small on anything over 15.2hh.
