Height of rider for a 17.1hh

I'm 5ft4 and look fine on a 17.3hh. I used to ride one at college, and I coped just as well as I would've with a 15.3hh. I prefer riding larger horses, as I learnt on a 16.2hh when I was 12 and I feel too dinky on anything smaller than 16hh

I'm 5' and have a 16.3, she is like the hulk, massively lazy and very long backed, but some how I manage to push her together! Good thing is that even if I do rubbish at shows I still get clapped and told well done as people think I am a child trying her best to ride the big horsey!

I did once compete an 18.1h, built like a shire. I looked tiny. My feet hardly reached below the saddle flaps. That did look a little silly!

Think it depends on rider ability and horse temperament really, you could have someone 5'3 who could handle a 17.1 but a much bigger but more novice rider who couldn't.

I'm 5' and ride a 17hh Hunter who is quite strong and I look a little bit small but can tack up and get on from the ground and he feels just like a 14.2hh to me now. And no one even when showing has ever sad I looked over-horsed. Only problem is there is a bigger surface area for grooming.
