Just wondering if anyone else has issues getting the tensioning right on these?
I just can't seem to get it to work, they just seem to fluff the coat and not clip through it. The one time I did get them to clip, they worked for maybe 3 clips then halfway through decided to start fluffing the coat again.
Have changed blades, played around with the tension and have had them serviced and still can't get them to clip? Any ideas or tips to get it right?

yes i do all the time

I have this problem with mine, and when they do clip they leave bad tram lines. I've adjusted, then re-adjusted...then adjusted some more and was still struggling. Decided there use be something mechanically wrong with them so sent them off to Clippersharp who checked them and said nope you just need to adjust the tension arghhhhhhh!!!

I loosen the tension off before putting blades on then turn until you feel the tension get tight then turn another quarter then blades should work sometimes if they are not really sharp you may have to turn tension a bit more, blades do not go on for ever they do eventually go blunt and stay blunt so maybe your need replacing, I do find it harder to get right if the blades are going blunt but always manage fine with sharp blades.

Heiniger clippers can be tricky to tension if you aren't sure how to do it properly. The general rule is to tighten until you just feel resistance and then turn another 1/4 - 1/2 turn. Sometimes it is easier to do this with the machine switched on as the noise pitch will change when they are just right.
If you are unsure, just ring up anyone who stocks them and they should be able to guide you over the phone.

I did my first ever clip with my new Heinigers a couple of weeks ago, and found that the tension seems to loosen off after a few minutes, so kept having to tighten them up again. Also found they were better as soon as I'd oiled the blades during clipping. Had lots of tram lines (think relief map of the world :D) but thought this was just my rubbish clipping, being my first time.

I have no problems with mine. Very pleased with them, had them 8yrs now. I loosen the tensioner off when I've finished clipping. Before I start I tighten it until it feels snug then loosen it off 1/4 turn. Always get a good clip without tram lines.

Ditto but have only used mine for two winters. As someone else mentioned they loosen off after a few minutes and do need retightening as you clip.

I hate them......sorry. They clip beautifully when they work and are nice and quiet. However my noisy Wolsleys just keep on going and will plough through thick dirty greasy cobs with no issues. I find Heinigers so temperamental!

just to buck the trend (hope im not jinxing myself!) i got rid of my wolseys for this reasons and bought Heinigers last year, so far done full clips and had no probs but i do have to tension them quite high I find. I go by the instructions but if they fluff, turn another 1/4 and try again.. had to do this a few times.

I never have to retighten mine whilst clipping, I don't find they loosen themselves off at all. On the odd occasion they don't clip for a second and just fluff the hair up, I slightly change the angle I'm holding the blades to the coat and then they go through no problem.
