As title says which one is bets for a hairy maxi cob - he needs clipped all year round and every 5 weeks in winter - as is a YAK!!!

Want a decent quality clipper that will stand up to the amount he needs and give a good finish - current clippers bit too lightweight for his needs.

I had fancied the progress due to nice slim handle and low weight??
any thoughts please

I used to have Heiniger handy. Got fed up with the fiddly cleaning (I was constantly losing the nut inside the clipper head) and difficult tensioning. Now have Lister legend clippers - absolutely fab. Heavy duty but light, no noisier than the Handy and easy peasy to tension and clean. No loose bits of metal to fall out. Highly recommend them. Lister Star are also good but may be a little light duty for you.

I have a set of heinger think its the handy but with double check, could also let you try them if you like?? (if you are who I think you are!)

Hi

thanks for responses - yes LMR I am who you think lol.... let me know which ones you have and would yes be interested in a trial - lot of money for clippers if not what I want - thanks xx

I have the Heiniger Progress and really like them - very easy to hold if you have small hands and very quiet (which is why I got them). Never had any problems with thick coats.

I've got the handy variety and have used them on thick coated ponies to fine haired TB's and they've done a fab job each and every time. Not too loud either which I like as well. :)

I have had my delta's for 13 years now and still going strong :)

Made light work of the hairy cob I had at the time who was clipped and hogged. I also find having 3 speeds is handy.

The Heinegars are well made, I would go for either the handy or the larger three speed machine. Yes they are a little fiddly but, as long as you remember to never run them without blades on and always make sure the drive block is on the peg. You will be fine. You also have a good selection of quality German steel blades available to cope with different coat types.
