He has stopped eating the VV entirely and the FF I bought is getting left as well :( . So at the minute he is just on alfalfa chaff, linseed and beetpulp. Im gradually changing his feed as of tomorrow to conditioning fibre, alfalfa pellets and linseed and lots of water, as well as his joint and hoof supplements. He has dropped a wee bit of weight even though hes down to 1 x 1hr hack a week at the minute and a 20mins lunging with pessoa session :(

He is a fussy beggar and also cereal intolerant, I have to watch what I feed and with his dropping weight and getting on a bit Im trying my best to stick to the BF diet but having to modify it to suit his needs. Also tyring to source a supplier of ERS pellets near me after being recommended them, proving hard but hopefully Ill find some.

I think a lot of horses got bruised during the long cold spell when the ground was very hard. In some ways it's worse when you have white feet, because you can see it - black hooves just don't show bruising, so you don't know it's there, just that they're wanting to avoid stones and lumpy ground. I think the long wet spell softened soles, which were then more likely to bruise when the ground froze.

There are a few "rings" just below the coronet band - again, mine has them too and I think it's the "wet grass, frozen grass, hay, frozen grass, haylage, wet grass" changes that have been going on over the last couple of months, and that probably makes the bruising more likely too.

Otherwise, I would have said they were looking really good? In the end it's how well they work, I suppose - just stick to what he can do happily for a week or so and see if the bruising disappears?

I would say the alfalfa could be a cause?
My TB went footy on just a handful in with her VV

What supps you on? Some joint ones are high sugar!

Its just glucosamine and msm and I give tumeric with it as this combo keeps him happy :)

He's always had alfalfa in his diet and he was happily stomping out until recently :)
