However, can any of you tell me what a Pre-Purchase Vetting Certificate looks like! Yep, sounds weird I know, but I have been shown one from an owner of a horse I looked at and Im not sure if its 'homemade'!!! I would be so greatful if anyone could help me out. Im new to the forum thing but it seems brilliant!!

Thank you for reading

i have recently had a horse vetted only 2 stage, but if you are wanting to buy ,you could ring the vets where it was vetted and they may confirm if it's origanal. alternativley you should get the horse vetted yourself then you will be dealing with the vets direct. welcome back to the horse world.

Good plan, rang them this morning, but not open on Saturdays and just getting inpatient !!!!!!! But yes you are right, thank you for advice

We hope to keep him at home. I had areally bad experience at a livery yard which was one of the reasons I gave up. It was a big yard in Kent and one of the other owners was 'obsessed' with making my life a misery - have NO IDEA why

she even used to ring the vets to check I was up to date with jabs etc. and generally just stirred lies about me. So now we have moved and am very lucky to have a 3 1/2 acre paddock and stable for a garden

Thank you for your advice, this forum thing is fantastic, its great to be able to have questions answered by real horsey people!!

Yep... i agree. Regardless of what the Pre- Purchase agreement is.. get your own vetting done. Although it will cost a bit, trust me, it will be well worth it in the long run. It will also set your mind at rest. I know exactly what you mean about previous experiences in yards... I waited until I could keep my horses at home for a long time... but now I can see them from my bedroom window every morning! Its fantastic!! Scary at first when you realise you are on your own, but worth every minute.... Very best of luck to you....

I would second getting your own vetting.

I didnt with merlin and paid the price. What was listed as a swollen fetlock (but passed flexion tests), turned out to be an etremely arthritic fetlock joint that four years later still passes a flexion test but is still arthritic none the less.

It turns out that the sellers best friend is a vet (but dont know for sure if that was who did the vetting).

You really should not trust anyone.

Welcome to the forum by the way
