I have just reported 2 rugs stolen (yes, off our horses backs) overnight. Details are in lost and stolen. I just can't believe that anybody could be so idiotic, heartless and senseless to steal rugs off clipped horses and leave them in sub-zero temperatues.
On a lighter note I own a lovely palamino who I just generally hack about on. I have had him for 5 years and he is a little darling. I also look after my daughters ID/TB.
I am lucky enough to be retired and so get to spend lots of my time with my horse and dogs - oh and not forgetting my husband.
Look forward to getting to know you all.

The depths some people sink to are frankly, unbelievable at times.

Keep an eye out at your local horse sales for the rugs - and ebay. Very healthy second hand market for rugs at the moment - can't think why?!

Hope your beasties are now recovered and snug once more and the gits that nicked the rugs skidded off the road on the way home and have serious dents in their transport and frostbite in unmentionable places.

Hello. Hope you dont get into a fight on here too soon!
Sorry to hear about your rugs. Some people really are scum

Really sorry to hear about the rugs

My neighbours think I'm mad as every time a new rug goes on - its immediately painted on both sides with my home postcode on in 6" high letters. Looks grotty - but since I had rugs taken off 7 horses overnight about 15 years ago, I've done this to all top rugs. Home postcode is easier, means the other 6 local yards that share the same postcode can't say it was their rug...... which one did the last time!

Flourescent paint shows up well in the fields too when dark :D

I postcode my rugs too after they were stolen from my horses back a few years ago. Just had hay and feed and other things taken a few weeks ago, so keep vigilant!

Thank you all for your welcome and good wishes.
Yes, Slinky, if you could keep an eye open for the rugs on your travels I would be grateful.
Have reported stolen rugs to police. Tried to contact Melton horse sales (as there is normally one of the first Saturday of the month) but they aren't holding a sale today.
Luckily, we have plenty of spare rugs and both neddies snuggled up again. Excellent idea about the paint. Will go and get some flourescent paint later today.
Keep warm all.

Hello and welcome. Sorry to hear someone stole the rugs off your babies. Id look on ebay just incase. Hope your babies are ok? Poor mites must of been freezing.

Haven't heard of any horsey thefts in the area lately. Have made lots of enquiries today. I live in Lincs/Cambs border about 4 miles east of Stamford. Have had hay stolen before. Just going to fetch horses in now as luckily we have own stables and small paddock behind the house. Does "shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted" spring to mind!

Hello and welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about your rugs being stolen, poor neds, bet they were freezing :( Some people just have no conscience!

Welcome Adeer, sorry to hear about your rugs and hope your ponies didn't suffer too much!
Nothing would surprise me, after all the saddles were stolen off the horses' backs in a riding school where we worked, in the time it took the staff to grab a cup of tea after saddling and before a ride!
I'm supposed to be retired too, but am working harder than ever, looking after a load of horses - but wouldn't have it any other way.

Warm welcome to you.

Sorry that your first post wasn't a positive one. Can't believe how heartless some people are, it is really beyond me! Hope you get to the bottom of who is behind it though.

Usual username- EventingIsMyGame. I had a festive name change! :D
