Hi, My name is Jon and I live in Sussex. I'm a rank beginner taking lessons (currently at the start end of the walk, trot, canter phase), so am looking to pinch all of your knowledge and experience! :-) and of course make some horsey friends.

I'd like to get to a competent stage as soon as I can manage on a lesson per week, and get to the stage where I can share / loan a horse, which I guess will be some time down the line...

Good Luck Jon :) my friend only started lessons in November last year and by March she was doing a share so keep going with the lessons and just enjoy them as much as you can

i'm over in Buckingham, was having lessons at a lovely place called Hideaway farm but now i'm lucky enough to have a share horse that i ride.

How are the lessons going?

Lessons are going well thanks. I'm currently learning to master the rising trot, and all the other basic beginner stuff like legs and hands and just being around horses. Much to learn... This evening's lesson went well. Rising trot is getting much better, I was able to find the rythm nicely and was even able to slow the horse to a walk by slowing my rise. It was nice to have the horse respond to me rather than trying to chase the horse's rythm! Still a bit of a tendency to go too high, especially when 'Puzzle' speeds up in the trot. I was very tired tonight though and got a bit confused with leg stuff and horse manoeuvering... Is all well with you guys?
