Hello Everyone

Sorry, should have written a little more about why I've joined the forum!
I'm a 53 year Mum of an 11 year old who started to learn to ride about 14 months ago. Our friends own a yard and we spent all summer there, helping out and riding.
One of the Old Boys sadly passed away leaving us heartbroken. ?
The stable was left empty so we decided to take the plunge! After alot if searching, we found our adorable young thoroughbred who was literally 10 mins from our yard. Meant to find each other.

Is he three years old currently? Certainly an 'interesting' choice of first horse for a child, if he is; there's an old adage 'green plus green equals black and blue', so for all your sakes (and safety), I hope you have a very competent instructor already in your employ.

I am most heartily sorry but I do not quite understand what you mean by this. Are you being satirical/sarcastic? I am neurodivergent and can struggle to get others' meaning if they say one thing, but mean another.

Buddy is very handsome though.
 
He is handsome, isn't he? No, I was trying to be funny. Sorry. He's only young and we have an amazing iinstructor who looks after everything. For such a young chap, he's amazing on the roads with others. The other mares keep him in check! ?

Well I wish you luck with him. I did have one 4 year old, who had raced, who was one of the quietest creatures I'd ever owned. I also sold a sharper 4 year old TB mare to a woman. She turned out to be too nervous to do much with her, but her 10 year old daughter was fearless and got on much better. It can work out, I hope it does for you.

Just be glad you don't have the opposite. Bob is an "Irish sports horse " The tranquil nature of the ID coupled with the athleticism of the TB. HELL NO!!!!!!!
What I have is a high maintenance Cart horse that believes (against all evidence) that he can show jump and event. An utter clutz. actually managed to knock his rider out cold whilst cantering a circle in the xc warm up. But on the bright side she was so out of it ,she rode her best ever ride on her own horse and won that class. PS I must add I was totally opposed to her riding again but the doctor cleared her.
