Hello everyone, I'm so looking forward to learning things here and getting too know about different aspects of things!
My name is Kayleigh and I'm 20 years old, I've been riding for about 8 months (once a week) with a riding school and that's it. I've been on hacks abroad and rode a friends horse but that's it, I've never had the opportunity to do anything other than get on and ride for an hour and then leave and now I have my first part loan mare (had her about 4 months) in my life now. I'm on a very very steep learning curve and some say it's to soon but I'm very confident with what I do and I'm so glad to of found her and her wonderful family! She's a Hungarian Warmblood Mare, 16 years old, 16.1hh and has been at her private family yard for 2 years since coming from Hungary as a circus horse in a pretty bad way.
There are the parents and their 4 daughters only on the private yard and now obviously me to along with their 4 horses. I have a ménage with poles that I have free use of along with instant off road hacking and lovely mixed terrain hacks around the village ... I couldnt be any more thankful.
She is an absolute diamond and is incredibly gentle for her size, she has her quirks but don't they all? Her owner who is 21/22 years old competes with her in SJ and XC.
I'm not the most experienced but I'm a quick learner and I'm learning all the time and reading so much which don't need much encouragement! I've just started jumping with my instructor on school horses which is great fun and I've jumped my loan mare only twice as she pretty quick but very soon I'll be having lessons on my loan mare as the yard owners are selling their large horse lorry and buying a smaller 3.5tn one so that the 2 older daughters can drive themselves to shows and there was talk of me also going on their insurance so I can drive Ruby to the livery yard behind my house (about 6 miles) to continue with my ongoing lessons but with my new loan mare which is so exciting! In time I'm able to go with one of the sisters and maybe do my first dressage show but I have no clue about to expect so I'm taking the showing side of things slow due to nerves and what to expect etc.
Look forward to chatting to you all, meanwhile here's my lovely Ruby.
Ruby with my dogs.
As for the rest of my animal family I have:
1 Chocolate Labrador: Sam 9 years.
1 Yellow Labraodor: Nico 2 years. (I'm gundog training him for fun with a local club)
1 Cat
4 Rabbits (Sadly lost my little black Netherland Dwarf show rabbit on Christmas Eve at 9 years old, still he did me proud by winning Best in Show in a local show and also many Best Of Breed awards)
1 tropical fish tank.
