Hi! I've just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. :) My name is Tilly, I'm nineteen and a uni student in Canterbury. I was born in England and lived here until I was about ten but have since been living in the States, so the majority of my competitive experience has been with the USEA and such. I own one horse, an absolutely lovely dark bay, 16.2hh Thoroughbred gelding named Dante (show name La Vie Boheme) who is a fantastic eventer; I got him whilst working for Phyllis Dawson, an Olympic eventer. I miss him so much and it looks as though I'm going to have to sell him so I'm a bit devastated, and in desperate need of some horsey time over here!
My interests are eventing, of course, showing, retraining off-the-track Thoroughbreds, and beyond that, I love acting and singing (I'm a Drama student), painting - I ran a small commission business back in the states for equine portraits and may start it up again over here, reading, travelling, and generally having a laugh and enjoying life! I'd love to get into foxhunting - heck, any riding at all as I've not sat on a horse in a couple of months and it is just killing me!! Anyway, I suppose that's all there is to it, I can't wait to chat with all of you and hopefully get a bit of insight into where I can fulfill my horsey cravings around here! Nice to meet you all :)

Ooh, and I shall take this opportunity to post a gratuitous shot of me and my lovely Dante... :D

Hi Tilly! I hope you are enjoying your time at Canterbury Uni but sorry to hear you may have to sell your horse. He looks a really nice sort. I'm about 45 minutes away from Canterbury uni so probably a little too far unless you can drive, but you would be more than welcome to come and help at my yard, initially with my horse but can guarantee if your riding ability and experience is as good as it would appear to be there would be loads of horses for you to ride out and help with backing etc if you wanted.

hey fellow canterbury person :)
Hope you're enjoying uni life, although i dont go to uni i always enjoy freshers week and other events :D
Sorry you have to sell your horse, i know how hard it is, i sold mine a couple of years ago and have only just got another. you'll probably like him, he's an ex racer, only had him 6 weeks.
Anyway, hope to chat to you a bit! and enjoy the forums, im pretty new too! x

Hi Spike 123, bit of a longshot but my grey mare Rosie was sold to a hunting home in Canterbury area maybe 7 years ago, fleabitten grey now and would be about 17 now - lost track of her when she went there (sold by someone else at that point) about 15.2 Connie x TB - just wondered if you knew of her at all - thanks

Hi Pebbles
I don't think I do,but if you have some photos I may be able to ask around. I am South of Canterbury near to the coast so it's possible that Rosie was in a totally different area. I have hunted a few times with East Kent but there are a few packs that hunt in the area so it's possible Rosie could of hunted with another one.

Hi spike 123,thank you, realised was pretty unlikely, I only have piccies of her as a 4-6 year old when she was steel grey, always kept an eye on her whereabouts but before she left for canterbury she was much more filled out and fleabitten so really hardly bore any resemblance to the Rosie horse I knew and loved! Not to worry thank you tho :-)

OP So sorry for my rudeness jumping in on your thread - moment of impluse! - but WELCOME and enjoy there are some lovely folk on here and I hope you get lots of horsey opportuities in Kent even if you do end up having to sell your handsome boy. All good wishes !

I would be SO interested, particularly as I'm sticking around over the summer and as term is due to end soon I'll have loads of free time! Whereabouts are you? Thanks so much for your response - v exciting stuff! :)

And happy horsey hellos to everyone, I can already tell that these forums will be brilliant at distracting me from my pesky essays ;)

I am in Canterbury too. Unfortunately my girl is only just backed so I can't really offer you any riding! It might be worth looking for adverts in Scats (Wincheap Ind Estate) to see if any one needs help or you could even put one up. Hopefully the forum can help fill the horse sized hole in the meantime

Hello, hope you are enjoying your time at uni. Is it Christchurch or Kent you're at? I'm based in Canterbury and studied and worked at Kent in Biosciences for 8 years. Would have taken you up on the riding thing a few weeks ago but have just moved my mare to full livery so she's being ridden more regularly now. Probably not your type anyway being a dumpy section D who doesn't do jumping! :D I'd definitely do what muddy_grey suggests and look on the notice board in Scats or why not pop a small ad on there yourself offering to ride? There's a really good (well it used to be good anyway I dodn't know now) riding club at Kent Uni which might be worth joining if you haven't already? They used to do team events and lots of activities. :)

I will pm you!

I will definitely pop an ad up in Scats! I'm at Kent Uni doing Drama - was on the riding team last term but ended up having massive expenses come up with Dante so had to pull out. I'm definitely going to try out again in the autumn, though. :) Darkly_Dreaming_Dex, I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow! The hunting around here must be lovely, and if this weather continues I'm sure it'll be a great day!
