Hi all, I’m new to the forum.
I want to start riding again after a 10 year break.
Had my own horse up until 2011 and then moved abroad for 10 years. Now settled back in the UK and feel the time is right for me to ride again.
Trying to find a local riding school feels like a never ending quest, as if I need to join some secret society and then I will obtain the knowledge!🤣
Oh well I’m sure I will sort something out.
😄😄

Well you've just done that 😁 give us a rough idea where you are in Tack Room and people will soon let you know what riding schools in the area are good and bad.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi, I‘m not far from Chipping Norton. Do you know of any good riding schools around you? 😀

Sorry I don’t know any your way, the only one I know is Radway in Epwell which is closer to me and not that far from Chipping Norton. If you have Faceache you could join the Oxfordshire Horse Riders page and ask on there and I can recommend Crown Riding Club which covers a large area. Somebody there might be able to help.

Outstanding in my field!

Were you competent before the break? If riding schools are in short supply, and you were competent before, you may find a share horse that would be suitable. Private lessons with a visiting trainer would then be possible.

Good luck!

I probably was, but it was a while back and my confidence has gone to lunch! 🤣 so I thought private lessons is the way forward.

Hi, thank you for your Hellos. Just quick update after a couple of recommendations, I’ve now got a lesson booked in for Saturday 15th at Talland near Cirencester! Nervous and excited, don’t know quite how I’ll be by then. 🤣🤣

Welcome to the forum from the SW Oxon / West Berks border! How did you lesson go?

Hi, thanks for asking.
The lesson went very well, so I’ve booked another for this Saturday. The instructor was lovely and kept things low key, and at my own pace. The horse was very sweet, if a little ‘lazy’, I don’t mean that in a bad way, he just needed a bit more leg and work from me. But better than a horse, where you only have to think trot and you’ve ended up in full gallop, jumping the school fence!
Overall it was fun and I enjoyed myself, although my legs were somewhat ‘wibbley’ by the end. 😁

How are you getting on Singapurcat? Are you feeling less wibbley and enjoying being back riding again.
Hi, lesson three yesterday, all going well. The teacher is lovely, she’s allowing me space to regain my confidence and not pushy at all. Rode a different horse yesterday, who can be a little ‘lazy’ and needs a bit of work, but once you’ve got him onside he works well. Apparently, I managed to click with him and he responded well, which not everyone can do. So pleased with that.
😂 yes my legs are less wibbly wobbly!
