Hello, new here. Found you a while ago as I was considering buying horse from a dealer in Lake District area. Anyway I thibk I nearly got scammed on Thursday and wondered if anyone hear can verify. I was all set to buy this horse with vetting being arranged. I did dislike that it was out my control and they would not tell. Me their vets (I saw this as red flag one). Then offering me to pay a month after delivery! (red flag two as surely I should pay on delivery and if I had warranty, that would kick in. I asked where thy are, they gave a postcode and I could find a similar business with that postcode but not them (ref flag three). Then onto companies house and again nothing on them... When they chased payment £1,500 I said I was struggling to verify them. The said it was a private sale. Yet Facebook was business chat! Postcode does not show any uther Livery business etc apart for thr legit one I contacted. They confirmed not them. I initially thought I caught them and they deleted account. However, I think they blocked me. Is anyone here able to confirm if there is two businesses similarly named in Bristol, same full postcode? I highly doubt I'm wrong but if I am, I livid that they didn't assist me in verify them. Then I'm raging at them getting away and scamming how many people £1,500 per hit!

On the FB it's Owned by Terri Hill since 1992 one of the comments (2nd April) is that there is a scammer using their name , they state they do NOT sell horses especially one called George. The FB page gives their address, web address, e-mail address, phone number, and postcode, check them against the ones you have. YES IT WILL BE A SCAM ONE YOU ARE TALKING TO

You already know this one was a scam. Hope you don't mind some advice..

1) If you are looking for your first horse get a lot of help - your riding instructor would be a good place to ask first. It's a minefield, don't do it alone. I bought my first horse 40 years ago & I still wouldn't do it without enlisting help.

2 ) Never pay a deposit until you have proved the horse exists. It isn't normal to be asked for a deposit before you have viewed the horse in person & tried it. (Some people buy 'unseen' especially if it's a youngster from the breeder but it's a big risk for a riding horse and certainly don't do it if you're a novice. In that case there's still no deposit - you just buy outright in one go. )

3) When you are sure there's nothing dodgy, you and your experienced helper have ridden it & are sure the horse will suit you, you're sure you can afford to keep it & have somewhere for it to live, you arrange a vetting, with a different vet to the seller's and your vet reports directly to you.
