Hi all!
I've been meaning to register on here for so long, but never got round to it until now! Tsck... useless i know!
My name is Jo. I work/live on a small polo yard in Birdlip, gloucestershire. I have ridden since i was about 3 and have done abit of everything. I was mainly trained and competing in sj until about the age of 18, then went to uni where i team captained the riding team for 3 yrs in sj and dressage. Through that i ended up working at the yard our team was based at with ex racehorses. I team chased with the Court Flyers on that yard at open level for 3 seasons. Very exciting stuff, but it finished when my horse and i had a terrible fall over a huge solid fence. Said horse was pretty much finished and so was my confidence over solid fences!
Nowadays i am a keen hunter (yes, the hip flask helps alot over the solids!) and have my own ex racehorse i bought for a whopping 2pounds in march this year! He is fab and at nearly 17hh, i have named him Shorty (his full name is Waterside inn). I hope to school him for sj (he makes a lovely shape over fences... about 6foot higher than necessary atm!!), i might even be tempted to put some small eventing boots on and see how we go as his flatwork is coming along nicely too.. watch this space!
I also have a horse called Capo Maximo. He was a high goal polo horse (16'1'') that fractured his pasturn on his winter break in 04. I took him on in 06 and reschooled him. He is sound and well and i taught him to direct rein, jump and work nicely on the flat. After he went clear at his 1st ever jumping class i decided i wanted to loan him out as a dressage prospect, as i didn't want to unnecessarily risk his leg. My good friend Lu loans him from me and went out in April this year and Capo won his 1st ever dressage test!! He is a legend!
I'm also reschooling one of our polo ponies atm in order to sell on as a general riding horse/competiton ned. She is doing amazingly well and went on her 1st jumping outing a few weeks ago and jumped a clear round (having never jumped a course of fences before). She really loves to jump and will make someone a very exciting competion prospect. She will go up for sale in a couple of months. Her name is Enigma and is 10yrs old (but my OH only broke her in as a 5yr old and she was the easiest horse he's ever had the pleasure of breaking).
Cookies to those of you who didn't fall asleep before the end of this! hope you are all well and would love to here abit about you.
