Just introducing myself. I grew up riding and having my own ponies until 18 and haven’t ridden since- I’m now 39! My daughter who is 10 and my son who is 9 are mad keen on riding and have been having weekly riding lessons. Our friend has a Dartmoor pony who her daughter outgrew 10 years ago and has been stood in a field ever since (the pony is now 19) My son and daughter have been building up this pony’s fitness very slowly and so far she seems to be thriving and loving it. I’m always conscious of the pony’s age and how long she has been out of work for. I’m loving being back in the horsey world! X

That's no age for a pony, I've seen small natives in work well into their 30s. I hope you all have a ton of fun. Welcome to the forum.

That’s good to hear, she doesn’t seem to be suffering any ill effects from all the exercise, in fact it’s helping to keep her weight down. She was obviously only ever used as a lead rein pony in the past as she has looked very confused when asked to walk and trot without anyone running along beside her!

Welcome to the forum. That sounds like a wonderful arrangement for your children and the pony, it's great that she's loving the attention and losing weight. She sounds very sweet.
