Hello All!
New on here, spent the past couple of days looking through the site and reading posts whilst ive been bored at work so thought id register and introduce myself!
My names Steph, im 25 and live in Leicester.
Ive rode since i was 7 but at 18 i stopped. (long story).
But last year, after 6 years off, i started riding again. And rather impatiently bought a horse!

A 15.2 TB x ID called Tottie.
She was the first horse i went to view. (Ooops) And if im honest, ive probably bitten of more than i can chew with her! My last pony i had from the age of 10, so for 8 years i could literally get on and do anything on him and didnt have to think about it.
With Tottie... Well... She was broken in at 3 and turned away (as you do) and not brought back into work. Shes 6 now!

So have had to start from scratch. I got her at the end of last August, and have so far fell of 4 times! And had a hospital visit because of one particular nasty fall on my Coxix! Ouch!
But, we're still going! Just! The weather has been awful! but have done lots of hacking to get her fitness up and build some muscle! And although i have doubted myself these past 5 months, i cant doubt, or fault Tottie.
So without further ado here she is...

As for colour... Her passport says Grey!!!!???
But when people ask, shes black, with a brown nose and a few white stripes thrown in! Lol!

Your horse is very beautiful! We are in similar situations as I had years off an then impatiently bought my new boy 5 months ago too! Enlightening isn't it!? Lol.
Best of luck, keep plugging! This forum's really helpful so I get most of my newbie answers here!
 
4 falls in 5 months is nothing

I had 4 falls in less than an hour once! (Small whippy pony, too short stirrups and bad balance on my part!)

thank you Tonitot for making me feel better about my falls! haha!
2 of them were within 10 mins of each other! fortunately i saw the funny side and just laughed them of!
One was whilst in the menage, first time i attempted to ride her in the dark with no one else on the yard! Clever arent i! Felt a right prat when the ambulance turned up!
And the 4th recently whilst on a hack, first ride out in about 7 weeks because of the weather, we pulled in to a field and a group of 5 other riders decided to gallop behind us! How responsible of them!!
So cant really blame Tottie for any of them!
Im used to riding Cobby types and shes quite fine at the moment, so doesnt feel like theres alot to 'grip' on to. Just have to try and sit deep and hang on! Lol!
But knew it would be hard work but what is with this weather!?? As if it isnt hard enough without the crappy weather sticking its oar in!!! Lol!

Thank you all for Totties compliments. I think shes pretty but then im biased!
 
Hi Steph - I hope that you enjoy the boards here and I must say that Tottie looks really lovely. I recently got a new horse and think I may have bitten off more than I can chew too, we've just got to keep at it!

The weather has been a real bummer but I'm hopeful it will pick up soon and then we can get to work on these horses.

i think the worst of it is the weather! but once the menage dries up as the wather warms up i'll be able to school and work her abit more. We'll get there in the end! What is your new one like? You having fun? Lol!

Well, we planned to buy something sensible, a bit older and not too big (a been there and done it all type) as we wanted to be able to hack alone and do a bit of basic schooling (me and Mum).

Ended up with a 16.2 sports horse, 7yrs old old, grey and also rather green... oops. I am way out of practice as I was a gymkhana queen when a tot then had a few lessons at the age of 16 (am 22 now) and got a horse for hacking, who developed arthritis and had to be retired pretty quickly. So in the past few years I had ridden only a handful of times before getting Belle. Got her in October but we don't have our own menage and the weather has been so awful that I've only managed to hack her out a little bit.

I'm waiting for the weather to pick up and then am going to have some lessons in a local menage. I can't even figure out her trot yet and haven't attempted canter since I tested her out!!

Good luck to us both - we'll have to keep each other up to date on our progress! Sounds like rather similar situations

Hello Steph i think we have all been there at some point. Keep plugging away at it and i am sure the results will be well worth all the knocks along the way.
