Hi - I saw your post below! Thanks for thinking of me guys! My laptop was broken so couldnt post last night!!

Day went VERY well and not so well!!! Ground was perfect and weather was perfect - the ground was so perfect the SJing was very up to height almost PN I would say so was a little worried for Spider! And it was very bright! XC was lovely - few PN fences in but was nice.

Spidey did an ok test! Was looking around a bit and not concentrating but got 37 point something so was pleased with that - she then went clear SJing!! Was chuffed to bits with her! And she then went on to go clear XC - but petrolwas running out so got 17 time pens but double clear!! couldnt stop smiling!!

Onto Mac - warmed up lovely for the dressage and did a lovely test to get 31.9 2nd in the dressage then went clear SJing as I would expect!! Warmed up XC pefectly and we set off..........jumping lovely landing and galloping......get round to no 7 and someone shouts out horse ahead so I keep going jumped the ditch and rail and as I approach the steps up to the narrow bit I see a coloured......I didnt want to slow down as I was in a good position adn I thought she would be moved....well get the other side and she was standing there so as I jump no 10 or 9 (cant remember!!) the roll top she decides to miss that and continue on to the water ....so I catch her up again I shouted "get out the way" and she hardly moved Mac lost concentration jumped so BIG into the water he jump straight out the other side over the fence into the wooded area I fell off and he got stuck in bog - winded himself so laid there for a bit - I was so scared
crazy.gif
but then he jumped up and we all fled!! We then grabbed him and they pulled down the rest of the fencing to get him out and he walked back through the water and is fine - the vet checked him twice - he had some bute last night but has come out of his stable today sound and well and bright - so hopefully it wont of knocked his confidence - feel so sorry for him as it was his 1st one and he could have been 2nd bless him!!!

Annoying thing is it just says retired on BE website not HF which they have a code for
mad.gif

Oh well onwards and upwards to Great Witchingham on the 23rd!!
smile.gif
smile.gif
- All in all as he isnt hurt it was a good day - and Spidey is def a little super star!!!!
grin.gif

Well done and bad luck, the fences judges perhaps should have done more to make sure the other horse was out of the way before you got to the water
blush.gif

Well done, Spider sounds a little star, shame about Mac but I guess thats the ups and downs of eventing for you! Glad he is OK, good luck at GW!

ETA its better it says retired than HF on the BE website in my opinion.

oh no poor Mac !! glad to hear he's ok though... and promising to think that he would have been 2nd with a clear xc, v exciting for the rest of the season
smile.gif

That girl needs to take a look at her rule book !! why the hell didnt she move out of the way and let you pass ?!

well done to Spider too, and good luck for Gt Witch
smile.gif

aww Well Done you and Spider
smile.gif
grin.gif
you must have been pretty chuffed
grin.gif

What a horrible freak accident for you and Mac
frown.gif
a real shame - hope he bounces back fine and you have a really fab run at GW

Yes they should have done - and I did speak to the steward after who was very nice and agreed I had probably caught her up because she had had stops and probably shouldnt have been on the course @ that point anyway!!!

Thanks guys!! Yes Spider is a star!
grin.gif

And yes very promising for Mac if he can bounce back from this - fingers crossed her isnt a horse to hold a grudge usually. We only had about 5 fences left to jump and they were straight forward so annoying!! He is just so bold, to bold for his own good at that water!

And your right I have no idea - she should have waited for me to go to the water and then followed - if anyone catches me up ever XC I move immediately

Yes probably is better - he can redeem his record at Grt Witchingham as it was a freak accident - I have explained all to his owner and she is happy for him to continue and see how he goes at Grt witch and continue from there if he runs well
smile.gif

Yeah dont try to worry about their track records at the lower levels, the arent machines after all and like you know freak accidents happen! You must be chuffed with them

They sure do! I always find that little water at Poplar a bit dodgy! Hopefully the water @ grt will give him confidence as it is quite open - and I have a water jump @ hope I can take him through nxt weekend.

Will start riding him again Tuesday if he is ok just lightly

What a shame with Mac, at least he was going well until then, hope he bounces back and goes well at gw!
You must be thrilled with spider, what a star! x

I would be furious if that happened- the coloured clearly got in your way and put you off.
Did you register a complaint?
They'd be sorry if that happened with me.

eventing diva - I am really chuffed to bits with Spider!!!

Yes she was clearly in my way - I did register a complaint and the steward said she would be spoke to - not alot more I could do really than that.

It is a real worry catching someone up though isnt it - well it will be now for me!! I will be screaming and swearing next time!!
grin.gif
"get out my f***ing way"!!!
grin.gif

I think it is so incredibly irresponsible that the stewards- and the rider involved- did not make more of an effort to get out of your way.
I hope that your horse wont have suffered a knock to his confidence.
At the end of the day there is a huge amount of money, effort and time involved to get a horse to a BE event in the first place.
I hope that rider on the coloured gets a fine and a good talking to.. I would not DARE get in someone else's way if my horse was refusing, would absolutely not dream of it and would make every effort to get out of the way, purely out of respect to the other competitor.
Anyway well done to both your horses, that is a brilliant start to the season!

Just as well Spider went well, otherwise I imagine you would have been fairly pissed off all round.
From my own point of view, as soon as I have had one stop, I am looking round for the next competitor coming up behind me so I can let them through. Some of our events go off at 1min intervals though, so most people are used to being passed at some stage in the season.
Hope Mac isn't too stiff today, and has a better event next time.

God, if that happened to me there would be alot more to deal with, like the rider of the coloured horse with a black eye!!
I would make a complaint.

[/ QUOTE ]

I did make a complaint to the steward - and hopefully the women will be spoken too!

And your right Fiona - it is so nice having two - as you put so much effort in and I was up at 3am!!! So was good to have one double clear!! And Mac to have a gd dressage and clear!! He will get his double clear at grt witch fingers crossed!!
grin.gif

Oh Holly, I was worried when I saw retired and we hadnt heard from you!

What an awful thing to happen, poor mac and you. Sounds like he will be back to fight another day tho
smile.gif

Still you must be so annoyed and frustrated what could have been (((((hugs)))))

HUGE well done with Spidey tho, fabulous result with her, must be so delighted. Good luck at the next one.

Well Im going to have to reply to this! and I hope you dont fall out with me for it!

I was with the lady on the coloured, and she didnt wait for you and miss a jump out, she didnt see you until she was at the water when the jump judge told her to get out the way, by which time you were there and she didnt know which way to move so she stood still so you could get round her!

She did have 2 stops on course but she did have the right to be there.

I also know that she was worried about you and the horse so she came to see you, and check all was ok.

Thats all im going to say, we take risks at BE but we are all a friendly bunch I look out for each other.

Hi Jane - i wouldnt fall out with you!!

They shouted out to me at the trekaner (sp!) that you was in front 4 jumps before I met with you!! So in my opinion they should have moved you off course before that - I mean moved you out of the way before the water as I did have priority over you as I had caught you up.

I just think the jump judges could have stopped you earlier and the steward agreed with me - and it was passers by who were helping me and jumping in the mid as they came back with me - the jump judges werent.

its ok though - he is ok and so am I so a lesson learnt maybe and hopefully he will continue without being scared - thank you for replying though!!!

Oooh, not a nice place for that to happen. Wonder if they will build that side up with more substantial fencing now to prevent another accident. Well done though, hope all goes well for you at Gt Witch.

Hi

It wasnt actually me, but it was my friend on the horse, but I was on foot on the course, and came running down to the water as I was worried!

You are right they should of moved my friend off the course earlier, but she didnt actually see you until she was at the water, and the jump judge was very slow to warn her ( not that Im blaming the jump judge, I know they do a hard job, and the horses are flying round I wouldnt want to jump out infront of one)

It was my friends first BE on that horse, shes only a baby, but they have to learn, shes a mare and having a complete mare day!

She did continue on the course, and got round to the last jump with out any further stops, but then came a cropper at the last jump as the silly mare wouldnt go anywhere near it.

It was a lovely course but seemed to be causing lots of problems, I heard no end of people stopping at the second jump and the last, not to mention the people that jumped the wrong last jump!

As I said my friend was very worried about you and the horse, and was hot footed to find you afterwards.

She has done lots of BE before on other horses and would of moved aside when asked but the jump judges were slow on the ball and so she had no choice but to freeze to the spot, in the hope you could get round her.

I hope your horse recovers ok, and it doesnt cause you a set back.

Aparrently its quiet a common thing to happen there, you would think they would make some changes to prevent it.

Good Luck at Gt Witchingham, my friends not going, so your be safe from our coloured.

Thank you very much for replying!! I do understand and at that speed I couldnt tell if it was her fault or not so obviously didnt say anything to her - But I do blame the jump judges - I totally agree they have a hard job but if they knew 4 fences before the water that I was catching her they should have radiod through and pulled her over.

But as I said luckily no damage done horse and rider ok!! Onward and upwards to grt witch and I just hope he can have a nice confidence run there!

I was thinking the same thing!!! I think some kind of fencing should be put up where horses can get through - not solid fence! And should make it a bit more solid the other side if poss rather then sinking bog!!!!
