I'm new here, but some people may know me from elsewhere ;) I've been meaning to join up here for a while but I think I'm becoming a forum junkie as it is so I've held off until now, but the temptation just got too much :D

I'm Helen, this is my horse Petra aka Mrs P aka the Poostain Queen

Normal service :o

We do a bit of everything, I would love to event her but we haven't managed very well so far - just when we get going something bad seems to happen like this

but we have a lot of fun anyway, Mrs P is the apple of my eye (albeit a rather poostained one :o).

I'm also very lucky to be allowed to compete my friend's horse Flynn. He is a hot cob, honest!

We do BE90s, we had a go at a BE100 once & survived but it was all a bit stressful so we stick to our comfort zone now ;)

Hello HHO! :)

Hello *waves back*. :) I'm relatively new here too, although I lurked for ages before taking the plunge and joining. Love your grey mare. I've got one too, equally poo stained - she was a hippo in a previous life. I was never going to buy a grey ...

Mine was quite dark when I bought her! I knew she would bleach out, but I kind of hoped she would defy nature/genetics etc and wouldn't. Now she is technically described as a 'poobald' :o

Hello !! I'm another gushy one, so good to see you join and add to the numbers ! This forum is really good, just gets quite heated at times .
I learn so much here, and best of all it's all HORSEY TALK :D:D sm x

Thanks Sanolly :) Before too long there will be nothing left but fleabitten bits and poostains *sigh* If anyone came up with a Grecian 2000 treatment for horses they would make a fortune!

My OH will be delighted to here that, he's already complaining that I ignore him most of the time :o But I think he's jealous, he doesn't have a passion in life like I do for horses. So he will always be richer than me, and I will always be smellier than him

Definitely! My grey is completely fleabitten now, being at the older end of the scale. I've forgotten that she had dapples once. I love "poobald" as a description!

Here is a pic of Mrs P so you can see her colour better - she is looking very lovely at the moment, she's 8 and I think is going through about the nicest dappley grey phase. This is also the only showing I've done with her, and the only time she has looked really properly clean, all year  Shame the judge thought she was too long and we came 2nd last :o Hey ho, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (and Mrs P is very long, I admit).

Welcome, Oh brave grey owner!

She looks gorgeous, even with the pooh stains. Her 'natural' colouring is beautiful :)

What, this one? lol!

We finally made it to a BE80 in June (in between ringworm and me breaking my hand) and this was what she had in store for me when I rolled up at the yard at stupid o'clock (yes, I did clean her up the night before - big mistake!). She has a great sense of occasion! I really do envy Flynn's mum :o

Welcome to the forum! What a beautiful mare!!!

I think maybe the poostains are her attempt at DIY grecian 2000!!! ;) Bless she's embarrassed at going grey!

Thanks guys, what a lovely welcome - Mrs P says fankoo! :) Here's some pix of Flynn strutting his stuff too, he's the most fabulous horse and I'm incredibly lucky to be allowed to compete him by his mum :D

Hairy cobs rule

Welcome! What a lovely mare you have! My bay boy is a grey in disguise as he loves lying on one side and the green/brown shows up clearly!

We had a beautiful grey several years ago who was perma-stained. Had to re-bathe him on the morning of a show once as he'd trashed himself during the night, and my daughter had a crazy early class on him. The delightful part was that he was still wet when she went into the arena, the arena was a dustbowl and he ended up covered in wet dust instead. Think the poo stains would have looked better!

Hope to catch up with you again on HHO! :)

The depressing thing is that even after I've cleaned her the night before & cleaned her again on the morning of the show and put her tail in a bag to travel, she will do antigravity poos in her limo & wipe poo all over both of her buttocks. Then after I've cleaned that up, 5 minutes after I've got on, she will poo down both of her back legs (inside and outside - how the hell does she manage that?) and her tail :o She really is the queen of poostains!

Hi *Waves Back*

Love your dapple grey and also your friends horse

Hope you have fun x

Thank you ;) I'm out of action at the moment, but here are some pix of P competing just to prove that she can do more than just poo a lot :)

This was our most recent outing - we did an 80cm ODE at Eland Lodge, she was brilliant & I was hoping that we might be able to do a BE90 before the end of the season but sadly not :( Hey ho, such is life! Anyway, here is the pic to be proud of

Eland001-1.jpg

And here's the pic to giggle at (I landed in front of the saddle :o She squeezed in a short one, I didn't)

Eland001-2.jpg

We like to play at dressage - gold star if anyone can figure out what gait she's doing, I have no idea

And how I broke my hand! I stayed on but managed to clout the back of her neck with my hand hard enough to fracture it. We have some work to do on our show jumping :o I might be asking for help on here :o:o
