Hi All,

I'm Sophie-Jo. I've been around horses all my life and they are my saving grace. So much so, that I am pursuing a career in psychology to hopefully one day create a therapeutic centre for equine assisted therapy. I'm currently under taking an undergraduate dissertation project on horse interaction on the impact of females anxiety. I've made a post to recruit participants, if you're interested in participating.

Hello, welcome.:)

Maybe put a thread in "Tackroom" containing a link to your questionnaire? - that's what people usually do, we get a lot of requests for help with course work. They also usually have a short blurb about which college is overseeing it & stuff about data protection. Good luck with the course.

Hi 👋

It's been a lifelong fascination of mine why horse riding is so heavily weighted towards women.

Thank you...I have put it in there as well. For my study, I'm doing interviews rather than questionnaires. Thank you for your advice and wishes!!!

Hi 😁

My reason for using women in my research, isn't to do with horse riding but to do with anxiety. Apologies if I my introduction was a little unclear☺️. Research and statistics show that women are more likely to experience symptoms of anxiety than men, with some evidence suggesting biological factors that can contribute to females being more prone to anxiety symptoms. However, I can recognise the limitations in biased research and that it is also reported men are less likely to report symptoms of anxiety, therefore this can produce false narratives - I will make this a discussion point in my research! Following the current national research on anxiety, this is one of the reasons why I've decided to use female participants.

I do share your fascination though! I have worked along side many males within the horse world and have a few male friends who enjoy being with the horses and riding, just as much as my female friends ☺️

Interestingly though, in this country those men, perhaps not including those in the racing industry, would be far more likely than average to be gay.
