Hi all,
I'm a very, very (very, very) long time lurker, I'm a reader not a joiner! I've been tempted a few times, but now, here I am.
I've recently had the urge to join the 'training 3/4 year olds' thread, but I thought I may as well put up an introduction post before I jump right in!
I've got two Welsh Cobs, a 23 year old, been there, done that, spook at a leaf sort, and a rising 4 year old. I got him as a terrified, head shy yearling and we've had the most incredible journey, good, bad and really ugly at times.
To cut a very long story short, this spring we are starting to hack out on short hacks on our own, and each time we go a little bit further, ask a little more. We have had backwards steps, but he's being so brilliant it honestly makes me weep (and I'm post menopausal, so there's that!
) No one else around me gets it - I go into work and say I've been for a ride, and they go 'oh, that's nice', but no, it's amazing, it's incredible, not just because he's doing all this for the first time with me, but because three years ago, I wasn't sure we would ever get this far.
And I know you guys will get it. We went for a half hour potter around the farm this morning and I came back with the biggest grin on my face and sometimes I just want to share that!
Thank you for listening to this daft old bat
