Hello everyone from Turkey, My 9-year-old daughter experienced a few falls when she started jumping in classes. It is now necessary to purchase a helmet with high protection power. Is there a brand you can recommend me in this regard? What is your experience with MIPS helmets for children? I reviewed Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Helmets have to meet standards and will have a ticket inside to show that they comply to the latest standard. I don't regognise those names, are they American?

If possible, it is much better that you take the child to a shop and get it fitted correctly by an approved fitter. People have different shaped heads, some round and some oval, so it is important that it is fitted individually.

I don't have personal experience but I would definitely recommend a MIPS helmet. I know you can get Champion MIPS for junior riders.

There is a huge link to head injuries/concussion and dementia in later life. I'm extremely worried about this as I have a 26% greater chance of developing dementia in later life, having seen my Mum with it at present, I do not wish that on anyone. I am buying a MIPS hat in the next few weeks ready for when I start trying horses again and will retain my new one for dressage or groundwork to mitigate anymore concussions.

Way back in 1997 my Mum was told by the consultant treating my concussion, something about the three concussion rule. I'd come off my horse badly (he'd fallen with velocity) and I'd ended up fitting and repeating the same sentence, I didn't actually have a brain bleed but it was a bad concussion which has affected me years later. I've had four or five in the 25 years I've been competing, plus one as a child non horse related.
