I just been offered an amazing oppertunity, to work at a Horse Safari yard in Argentina. After 2 months when the season is over I can move to a polo yard or a racing yard. I'll be away for at least 4 months.
However, I have two mares, both rescue/project horses who are not completely back on track yet and still need alot of work. Due to their issues loaning/selling is not an option, especially due to the current market, and anyway, I would never sell due to their pasts.
I am looking for someone to help out with their care, mornings for 5 days a week as Dad has agreed to do evenings and weekends.
they need bringing in in the morning for feeding, grooming, rug changes.
poo picking the field daily, checking electric fencing, pulling ragwort, doing hay/water and making up evening feed.
also, general organising of the yard- worm counts, feed and hay deliveries.
holding for trimmer/vet etc.
Ideally also bits of clicker training and lunging/ongreining witht he big one.(I am also willing to pay for them to have a few lessons with my trainer so they know how best to handle my two untrusting and quite complicated horses)
What I need to know is where best to find someone suitable?
And how much do grooms expect to be paid for this kind of work?
Im leaving mid jan so this is quite urgent!
