Help/advice needed please

ok we have had the snow here for the past 4 weeks now and my horses are getting really really grumpy and fed up.

They have a big round bail of hay in their field and i am up feeding at least 3 x a day to keep them occupied.

But they are hungry i think and just can not get to the grass.

Does any body have any suggestions for me at all in what i could do?

you could put out different types of forage simultaneously i.e. hifi, hay, haylage as a bit of variety will occupy them

I was going to do that but put out little piles of cool mix and chaff and pony nuts all over field

TBH not got any suggestions really. Although think the variation is a good idea. What makes you think they are hungry? Surely if they have ad lib big bale of hay they shouldn't be hungry? Maybe they are just bored/ fed up with the weather

Again, placing different feeds all round the field would give them something to do finding it. Sorry, rubbish advice, but just wanted you to know I wasn't ignoring you

normally at feed time they are very very good but yesterday when i was spreading small bails of hay out as had ran out of big bale until today my cob very laid back dude nothing bothers him. well he double barreled my mare and he was very very aggressive towards her normally its the other way round.

Then when i put the hard feed out jesus(sorry) i thought i was going to be killed what a bl00dy fight they had. Very not like them as i say they are very chilled horses( well hari is the boss).

hmmmm think i will take a trip to my tack shop and see about the snack ball and the field lickets.

Mine are acting the same way. They have ad lib haylage and are fed twice a day so I know they are not hungry. Think they are just frustrated and bored. I have been taking them in 1 at a time for a brush and a bit of pampering to lessen the boredom but not much else I can do in this weather!
