Help!! Advice on worming please

I've just had the worm counts back for my 3 horses and the same has happen this time as last year, 2 of the boys have almost negligable counts of Nil and 50 while my TB has a 350 count of Strongyles. All 3 are on the same worming programme, they're turned out in seperate paddocks and dropping picked up morning and evening. So why the big difference.
Like the others, the TB was wormed with Eqvalan at the end of March but what can I use now to try and knock this problem on the head once and for all. I know these are the most difficult worms to get rid of. I am thinking a five day course of Panacur but any advice would be much appreciated.

As already mentioned it is a very common situation. It is to do with a horse's individual immune response to worms - some horses have a great response and can control their worm burdens with very little need to worm; other horses no matter what you do always seem to have high worm egg counts (the 80:20 rule - 20 % of horses will put out 80% of eggs back on to pasture). Our recent results were 2 horses with 0, one with 50 and one with 3500 eggs/gram - he looked perfectly OK. All kept in exactly the same way - he has always had a high wec no matter what - so we just worm him (and not the others). You are probably doing nothing wrong and I wouldn't worry about trying to eliminate worms - just control the level.

This is a very common pattern. Have you asked your worm count provider? Was it us (Westgate)? We are always happy to give advice on results.

It was done through Merial Animal Health as a free offer with my last purchase of Eqvalan. They only advise they have given me is worm again with their product. I've heard good reports of Westgate and will use you the next time.
