My cousin recently rehomed what they where told to be a 1yr old beagle from a rescue group near peterborough.
The dog is lovely and amazingly well behaved with their two toddlers and is completely house trained. Their problems began when they indroduced him to the other family pets aka the rabbit to whom hejust sits and howls at this is also his reaction to anything else small and hairy. The problems have further been compounded by my cousin breaking his ankle and leaving all the care to his wife, the dog has started chewin objects and getting rather lively on his walks (she struggles to hold him if he sees something he likes the look of)
The dog has been taken to the vets to start his jabs who has told them that he is more like a 4yr old and is def not a beagle and more likely to be a harrier in breeding. He has advised that castrating him will help with his issues but is not going to fix the problems.
They have thought it through and tho they are all in love with him they are sure they cant offer him the home he needs and are now trying to find out what they can do for the best, ive said id post on here and see what people suggest as they really dont want him to go back into rescue kennels or be pushed from home to home, but know they havent the skills to care for him properly.
Sorry ive rambled but ideas, people with experience of the breed will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
