Hi everyone,

I have been registered on here for a while but not really done much so firstly thought I should re-introduce myself...it's Just Me :)

I am hoping to do an HND Equine Science course this year, and have been helping out at a local yard...learning about horse care/needs etc. I attended lessons for a while at a local riding school but had to stop due to working commitments clashing with the lessons on offer. During these lessons I was able to walk, trot confidently, canter less confidently and was starting to learn more about jumping.

Anyway, I hope to get a horse one day...hence all the work...and wondered what you think it is good to know before getting my own horse - I will either buy, loan or rehome when I have the money to do it.

Any advice/help greatly appreciated :)

Hi there :)

I would recommend loaning a pony or two before buying one - that way you're not stuck with one that you don't get along with! Gather some experience in what you like in the horse, maybe refine your search to what you are looking for! Also, take an experienced friend with you when you are looking at horses to buy :)
Re-homing a horse is a fantastic thing to do but these horses might have had bad experience in the past so you need that little bit more knowledge, confidence and experience with them. :)

As for your riding, I hope you do well and enjoy your time with horses - They are the best things on this planet :D

Hope this helps, Catherine xx
