Help and advice...lactating mare after weaning!

My mare went away for weaning in April..she came back mid October, went back in with her son and pony all well no problems..until this morning her udder has filled and she has dripping milk..she isnt in foal..and she wont let her son near her for the last few days she nips and barges him away..so what to do?? could it be that I have increased her hard feed with this cold snap...oh I dont know...any advice would be greatly received

If she has started lactarting again I would get in touch with your vet and see if they have anything you coulds give her to dry her up again, the most important thing is to watch out for mastitis (sorry can't spell), is the udder hot to touch, will she let you touch it or is she not wanting anyone near it? if it's getting hot there coulds be an infection starting. If it was me i'd get the vet out and see what he said.

As above,but we use to put epsom salts in drinking water years ago and seperate them again.
