Hey.
I am looking for some advice off anyone who has had an ex racehorse and re schooled them .
I have now got a beautiful 6 year old 16.2hh bay mare called bunty (race name) Bunty malenoir she is out of silver patriarch and captivating
she is an absolute gem and i have got her for myself so i can do racehorse to riding horse classes and maybe so showjumping etc later on. she has not been ridden in 3 years so i started lunging her and took things slow yesterday i popped a saddle and bridal on her with snaffle bit she was so calm and didnt care one bit about the girth or bit. i then lunged her with her tack on and she was amazing after being to over confident i leaned on her back and within 10 mins i got into the saddle she was fine didn't even care i was on her back
she looked round so i gave her a treat so that she knows she being good. i never picked up the reins or did anything but be lead round, im trying to get some advice to do more with her but slowly we have a great connection and i want her to trust me more than she does at the moment does anyone know any exercises i can do with her and schooling techniques for on the ground etc to help me get her used to contact and starting to use her muscles i obviously dont want her thinking she is racing any help would be much appreciated
