Any advice however small will be much appreciated.
Am currently on a competition yard which is full of strong characters but a lot of them are very nice. Good price for DIY and stables good size, outdoor school is fab and always somebody there to help you.
BUT the turnout in the winter is c**p
We keep getting flooded and so they have had a winter of mostly being in and if out it's only for a couple of hours.
Still with me

Now a place has come up at a very small yard, again stable good, school fab and better hacking, plus there is all year turnout in your own paddock.
Now question is should i move for grazing? Even though summer nearly here and then they can go out more.
I'm not somebody that moves yard willy nilly and worried that grass not greener and all that.
Sorry for the long one as i have to make my mind up asap and i'm getting headaches

I'd move - turnout is terribly important imo. Plus the small yard sounds as if it offers you everything the bigger one does in terms of stabling and school etc.

Depends if everyday turnout is a must for your horse. Personally ive moved from nograzing to almost everyday (not in bad weather)

You say you will have you own paddock for turnout, do you have the same one for winter and summer ?. If so you could end up with ne grass in the summer, if not then i would move if the turn out is important. Summer may be coming and you will be able to turn out again, but just remember winter will follow and you will be in the same boat as you are now.

I'd move. I don't think I would be able to handle my mare if she didn't have everyday turnout, she gets very wound up. I'd move whilst the space is available, if next winter you wanted to move, knowing your luck you will have nowhere to move to because all the stables with all year turn out are taken! One thing though, do you keep the same paddock for winter and summer? If so you had better be careful that its a decent size so you can electric fence bits off to keep the grazing, that would be my only reservation.

I would definitely move for better turnout, to me its the most important thing and the smaller yard sounds as thought its got good facilities as well.

Thanks guys, turnout important to me too but just wanted to hear others that thought that as our yard don't think it is.

Move. turnout is important. With care there is no reason you a cannot have a good amount of turnout summer and winter.

I would probably move now because there may not be any vacancies when winter comes round again. You are probably worrying about how your horse will settle but if other horses look settled when you viewed I'm sure it will be fine. Decisions, decisions!!!
