My Shetland is very close to another Shetland and as much as I think this is cute it's becoming a problem.. My boy needs feeding up and is taken out of the stable and fed but as soon as the stable door shuts the his friend will start rearing and yesterday he got his feet stuck on top of the door and scared him self and me half to death! He's really goning to hurt himself if we don't sort it out so any ideas?
Thanks x

could you get someone to hold the other shetland and then slowly increase the distance between that one and your one? my ponies were the same and that's what i had to do, after a couple of weeks they accepted that when it happened nothing bad happened to them.

Is it just the other pony getting separation anxiety or does yours suffer from it too? If not you could leave yours in and take the other one out, if it's being kept active (mentally) by being taken for a walk away from yours or lunged etc then it won't have time to worry too much about yours and at the same time will get used to being away, once it is happy to do this then you can start to do it the other way around?
