Help - animal disposal dont know what to do!

sorry its not a horse but a goat but i need help quite quick otherwise going to be very minging.

I had a goat PTS this morning as it had been savagely attacked by something in the night [i presume badger or large stray dog, no way a fox could do this]

Anyway i didnt think to ask the vet what to do with her i was still quite shocked and more worried about checking all the others and tending to the pony who had become hopping lame overnight - obviously galloped round like a loony due to the commotion.

I was just going to bury her at the land (i own a digger firm so digging holes not really a problem for me)
but some people are saying i can't just bury her, others are saying i can but it has to be min 8ft down??

Argh help i am at a loss with what to do - i want it to be as dignified as possible but at the end of the day i am already footing the bill for her to be PTS [she's not mine] so cheapest option possible would be good

As you already have a digger, just bury her. If she was a pet, then I believe it is legal - there are some strange loopholes there! No one is going to know where you put her; its no different to burying a dog.

The farm where we rent our cottage had a problem last year - the hunt could not get out to us for 2 weeks to pick up a dead calf.....poor thing began to decompose and the stench was horrific, so farmer took it across the fields and buried it!
 
hmmm bit worried though as there are nosey neighbours ... they have called the RSPCA before about these animals (who have since visited and no concerns were raised by the inspector i hasten to add)
maybe i will just try to do it quietly tomorrow somewhere out of the way. i could go right up the back of the property but that is SSSI land so i dont dare touch it at all.
 
The hunt will normally take a Goat.

If it is your pet and you keep well away from a water course you can bury it on your own land (subject to approval from your local authority).
 
thanks all i have left a message on the Kennels answerphone, if the cost isnt too much i will have it collected. If not i will bury her but would rather not really with all the restrictions someone will no doubt report me if i do anything wrong which is hassle i really dont need.
 
Our hunt doesn't collect any animals now, doesn't have a flesh wagon. They will accept animals if the farmer takes them in.

You can bury a pet animal, only not close to a water course.
 
I would bury her too...lots of people still bury their animals and not alot do it 8ft down either.
If she was PTS by lethal injection...she is not consumable by anything... as already suggested.

Ps my Ex pikey next door neighbours burried there Bullmastiff not so long back in their front garden
