Help :( Something is wrong with dim and i can't workout what! He had his teeth done exactly 2 weeks ago, last sat i was holding him talking to him and he threw his head up to the sky for no apparent reason, he did this a couple more times walking along then when i got on he stopped, later on that day he reared in hand and did the head toss a couple times, put it down to him being stroppy as he is, then over the last week variuos things have happened, I took him to a new place, he reared in hand grazing again, I put the pessoa on him which he is normally an angel in and only has a mullen mouth and he took a few steps then was trying to rear/throw his head up i managed to eventually get near him to take off his bridle and he grabbed it and then launched it across the yard. So yesterday i manged to get the dentist booked in, i just presummed something was bothering him from the dentist trip, she was there for ages couldn't find a thing, i showed her how he's started throwing his head up when the bridle comes off. So i tacked up got back on yesterday and rode, we went over trotting poles head went vertical! landing from a jump same thing twice! someone mentioned it might be neck muscles so i've booked his massage lady to come out tomorrow morning, she suggested a chiropractor and then i was thinking of booking the vet on weds as a backup if no-one finds anything. Normally with him i'd say he's playing up, he's got such a strong under neck he has smacked me a couple of times before, he's very stroppy and uses his head against you BUT he just doesn't seem right! i really feel it is pain/comfort not him being his normal arse self!

Sorry i've done my best to explain, sorry it's so long....... he's a rather complex sole :( but i'm pretty worried about him

Anyone experianced anything similar??

And before anyone make any funny remarks, he's not wearing his patent red bridle, so not an objection to that :p ;) :D lol

The leading makes me think head shacking, but then the landing after jumps makes me think back pain.

Does he resist going forward?

If it was me I would book the physio and use a nose net in the mean time and see if either help at all

I've got a nose net so can try that! It doesn't seem typical head tossing, it's like a reaction to the bit, like it suddenly hurts him? even when he's just standing there? Even if i did tug on his mouth a little on landing, he never reacts like that, he was fine even when i was learning and never even did that when i was freezing over jumps :o

If he has only just started after having his teeth done I would be looking into what was done by the ED, could he have filed too much uncovering a nerve? (don' know if this could happen??) Can you get someone to check his teeth, poss not the person who did them in the first place.

I think I'd get someone else to look at his teeth. I am guessing by you mentioning jumping theres no possibility of it being teeth coming through that aren't visible yet but causing discomfort?

You need your vet to look at his teeth, just because the EDT did it the first time, she is not likely to hold her hands up and admit she did something wrong. Did she float his teeth or use a rasp ?

My friend had her horse floated and it could not eat afterwards, it ended up at the hospital needing remedial teeth work !

She rasps everything by hand, she is very good and i can't imagine she wouldn't say she saw something when i asked her to come back. But obv you never know, just she is a great dentist and i do trust her. It may just be that he happened to have his teeth done at the same time or possibly pulled his neck whilst having it done. I think i'm gonna go in order or back massage, chiro/physio, vet, another dentist and if all is clear presume he is just taking the p out of me!!
