Friend worried whether passport is genuine with new horse, if anyone has one of these could you tell me if the last 6 digits of the Identification number is hand written?
What makes it suspicious is the handwritten numbers, the 1st 9 are printed in large letters - 826 067 PHS, and on the drawing not all the white markings are hatched and are in red as though an original.
In the in the 6 passports that I have (admittedly not by this issuer) the identification drawings were done hatched in red BUT the copy when the passports were issued were obviously a photocopy of the original as hatchings were black, when I queried this I was told the passport issuer held the originals (with any red hatchings) on file.
Whorls are all where most horses have coat direction changes, none marked on neck by mane.
Many thanks to any that can help :-)

yes I have 3 pleasure horse passports
and yes the digits on mine are printed and the rest hand written
as yes mine are in red as well

The passports should be sent to NED with a fee and then they send it back with her name stamped as new owner. She will have the original once the transfer is done. She must have it.

Yes Moll has one. And yes the last 6 digits are hand-written. The letters and numbers before the hand-written ones are the same as you say.

The white markings were hatched in red.

Moll's passport's been taken over by the Horse Passport Agency as I believe the PHS aren't licensed now.

Thanks ladies :-) so 3 drawings have red and 1 black, hmm, did the drawings have to be done by a vet for this agency?

NED closed last year - the government, in their infinite wisdom, decided that a central database of UK equines was not needed. Even if that weren't the case, passports have to be sent back to the society/organisation who issued them.

I have a PHS passport, but all the numbers are printed. It is a duplicate though, so maybe that's why

Thanks all for your help, have found online that The Horse Passport Agency have taken over the records of The Pleasure Horse Society, I will contact them tomorrow.
